Privacy Policy

What GIOLIV is

GIOLIV is a media player. It plays video from a server that you, or the service you subscribe to, give it. GIOLIV does not provide, host, sell or license any channels, movies or series, and it sells no subscriptions. The content you watch comes from your own provider; this policy covers only what the app and the GIOLIV service do with your data.

What the app collects, and why

1. Sign-in details

The username, password and server address you type (or the activation code shown on your screen). The app sends them to the GIOLIV service only to check them with your provider's server and to keep you signed in. On your device they are stored in the system's secure store. The GIOLIV service keeps your username, server address, a session token and your device identifier so the account can be managed (number of devices, sign-out) — never your password in clear text.

2. Device information

A random device identifier the app generates, the device model or name, the platform and the app version. Used for device limits, activation codes, the "Play Next" row on Android TV, and the speed reports below.

3. Viewing data

Where you stopped in a movie or episode, your My List, your favourite channels and a learned "skip intro" position for series. Saved on your device and synced to the GIOLIV service with your session so you can continue on another device. While you watch live TV, the channel you are on is sent with the periodic session check. No viewing history is ever shared with anyone else. Your provider can see what your account watched in the last 7 days (titles and times) to support you; older lines are deleted.

4. Speed reports

Counts of freezes and screen timings, together with the device identifier, device name, platform and app version, sent to the GIOLIV service a few times an hour of use so slow screens can be fixed. They contain no titles and no viewing history.

5. Title lookups

The names of movies, series and channels are sent to the GIOLIV service, which asks The Movie Database (TMDB) for pictures, descriptions, cast and similar titles, and subtitle providers (OpenSubtitles, SubDL) for subtitles when you ask for them. Only the title names are sent, never who you are.

6. Connection data

Like every server on the internet, the GIOLIV service sees the IP address the app connects from. It keeps the country that IP address belongs to, with the time of the connection, so the account owner and your provider can see where the account is used (for example to spot a shared account). Your precise location is never asked for or worked out.

What GIOLIV does not do

• No advertising, and no advertising or analytics SDKs.
• No selling, renting or sharing of personal data with third parties.
• No access to contacts, device location (GPS), camera, microphone, photos or files.
• No tracking across other apps or websites.

Permissions

• Internet — to play video and talk to the GIOLIV service.
• Keep the screen awake — while video plays.
• Background audio (iPhone, iPad) — so sound continues when the screen locks.
• Install packages (Android, only in the version downloaded from our site, not the Google Play version) — to install an update after you accept it in the app.

Third parties

• Your content provider — your sign-in details and every video request go to the server address you entered. That server is run by your provider, not by GIOLIV, and has its own policies.
• The Movie Database (TMDB), OpenSubtitles, SubDL — receive title names only, through the GIOLIV service.
• Google Play and Apple — when the app is installed through them, their own policies apply to the download and updates.

Retention and deletion

The GIOLIV service and the data it keeps are stored on servers in India (OVH data centre).

Viewing data and device records are kept while your account is active. Signing out from Settings ends the session and clears the saved sign-in on that device. To have every record the GIOLIV service holds for your account or device deleted, email privacy@gioliv.app with your username or the device identifier shown in Settings; we answer within 30 days.

Children

GIOLIV is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their data. The parental-control PIN is stored on the device only.

Security

The app talks to the GIOLIV service over HTTPS. Passwords are kept in the device's secure store. The connection to your own provider's server uses whatever address you entered, which may be plain HTTP; that connection is between you and your provider.
